The industrial drum flaker transforms a molten product into flakes or solidified sheets by cooling it under the solidification temperature. The process that takes place is a cooling crystallization process. The end products are flakes or solidified sheets that are ready for bagging.

 

The material obtains a temperature difference on the outer wall of the drum that is transferred by water (steam, heat transfer oil) cooling (heat transfer) to cool (dry) and flake. During the cooling process, the cooling water (steam, heat transfer oil) is evenly sprayed to the inner wall of the drum by the distribution system, and the temperature of the cold water (steam, heat transfer oil) is transferred from the inner wall of the drum to the outer wall of the drum, and then passes through the material film to achieve the purpose of cooling (drying) crystallization. The entirely closed cooling system ensures no cross-contamination between coolant and product can take place.

After almost a complete rotation, the scraper removes the completely solidified product layer from the drum. It breaks down into flakes or solidified sheets that are easy to handle. The shape and size of the flakes depend on the nature of the product and to some extent on the process conditions. Changing the process settings (such as speed and immersion depth) will slightly change the size of the flakes or solidified sheets to obtain the desired final result.

Compared with other technologies, our industrial drum flaker has a small footprint and is suitable for most product applications. The water cooling system is a closed-loop system, so cross-contamination between the coolant and the product is impossible during normal operation. For standard applications, the hood can effectively cover the process space. For toxic products, there are airtight models available, as well as inert gas coverage to handle sensitive products.
